WIFFLE BALL TOURNAMENT

2015 OFFICIAL TOURNAMENT RULES

 

  1. Wiffle Bats and balls will be provided for all teams. 
  2. The Strike zone is target is 20” wide by 30 “high.  The height of the strike zone will alter with different ages.  Any pitch that hits the border of or within the target is called a strike
  3. Any combination of THREE missed swings, called strikes, and/or foul balls is an out.  Four balls is a walk.  Hit batters do not take a base. 
  4. 6 BALL RULE - Anytime a picture throws 6 straight balls, the offesive teams must change the picture in the field.
  5. NEW BATTERS BOX.  Players must stand behind the batters box line while batting.  The batter can not lean into a pitch.  Leaning in can result in a strike call or dead ball.
  6. Three outs per inning. 25 minute drop dead.  Each team gets to bat in each inning. Last inning must start 6 min prior to drop dead time limit.
  7. The batting order must include everyone on the team and remain constant throughout the entire game.
  8. Late teams - FORFEIT that game.  
  9. Hits are determined by the designated field areas.  A ball reaching the ground on or past the singles line is a single, landing on or past the doubles line in the air is a double, hitting the fence is a triple, and landing over the fence is a home run.
  10. No base running.  Imaginary runners only
  11. On a walk, runners advance only when forced.  On a hit, all runners advance the same number of bases as the hit.
  12. Teams must keep track of their own base runners, counts, lineups, and scores, and reach decisions together on fair/foul balls and safe/out calls.  Tournament staff will settle any disputes or answer any questions regarding the rules.
  13. A maximum of three players are allowed in the field during play (including the pitcher).  Fielders can be positioned anywhere in fair territory except between home plate and the single line/ pitcher’s mound.
  14. Fielders are allowed to take one step in from the single line to field a ground ball.  Ground balls must be fielded without any bobbling to be an out, otherwise it is ruled a single.  Fly balls can be bobbled, but must be caught before touching the ground or the fence to be an out.
  15. All plays must be made using human extremities (no hats, gloves, or anything else may be used to aid the fielder).
  16. Pitching and fielding substitutions can be made at any time between at-bats, but not during them.  A pitcher cannot be relieved and re-enter the game as a pitcher until the inning after which he/she has been relieved.  A pitch can only pitch a maximum of 2 innings per game.
  17. Following the completion of division play, any ties in the standings will be broken in the following order:
    1. Head-to-Head record
    2. Highest overall run differential
    3. Most overall runs scored
    4. Least overall runs scored
    5. Highest Head-to-Head differential
  18. NOTE: IF PLAYING DOUBLE ELIMINATION - DIS-REGUARD PLAYOFF RULES BELOW
  19. PLAYOFF: will consist of 24 teams, single elimination
  20. PLAYOFF Games will be 4 innings if possible or 25 drop dead if needed
  21. PLAYOFF GAMES ONLY:  Both teams will start each extra inning with the bases loaded.
